Great Travel Moment For a decade now, I've been traveling to Mexico's Mayan Riviera once a year. I spend most of my time there snorkeling in its lagoons, sheltered bays and cenotes. But when day turns to night, I spend time quietly driving along jungle roads in search of spotting fantastic wildlife from the safety of my car. I have been impressed with the creatures I've seen, from the white-nosed coatimundi to the one time sighting of a jaguarundi. Each time, I have failed to get any good pictures of these sightings as I get wrapped up in the moment instead of capturing it on film. One night after returning to my villa from one such self-guided roadside tour, I shot a series of pictures of this tiny gecko with whom I shared the villa walls. Sometimes the biggest things actually do come in small packages. |
