Great Travel Moment My family spent three weeks in Panama in December one year. After Christmas we spent several days in the San Blas Islands. The San Blas is an archipelago inhabited by the Kuna. Staying with the Kuna was an incredible experience, so far away from anything we had ever done. We stayed on a small island, hosted by a Kuna family that ran a hotel. They took our family and the other visitors each day on a morning and an evening outing. On the morning outing of our first full day, we were taken on a snorkling expedition to a small island, Dog Island, where a single family lived in 2 thatched huts. The snorkling was fabulous; the water warm, clear and full of colorful fish that swam around an old ship wreck. When we pulled away from the island, heading back to our "hotel'" I looked back at the island we had left and took this photo. |
