Great Travel Moment

The Cliffs of Moher are one of the most outstanding coastal features of the west coast of Ireland. Over 8 miles long and rising 700 feet above the deep blue Atlantic Ocean, they are also a haven for sea birds. Although it was drizzling when I visited the cliffs, it is said, on a clear day, one can see the Aran Islands as well as the valleys and hills of Connemara. Growing up in Chennai, South India, 'Connemara' has special significance for me as it is a landmark on Mount Road. The original Connemara brought back tremendous nostalgic memories. The cliffs were just one of the highlights of my trip. Ireland, a country steeped in history has also other geographical and natural features and, on the whole, satisfied my innermost quest to reconnect with Nature and understand their history and suffering during the famine and recent events in the North.
