Great Travel Moment This photo was taken in a small village near Guilin, China. Going to a foreign country is often about the sites; how many adventures can be had. Despite all of the wonderful places and events I experienced, the most memorable aspect of China was the people and their hospitality. I loved observing and interacting in their daily routines, things as simple as going to the market. Though I didn?t know many people and couldn?t speak their language, I always felt welcome. This photo shows the common event of gathering around a table to share a meal with friends and family. Watching them prepare dinner showed me their resourcefulness and selflessness. People across cultures are more similar than the tourism industry or media portrays. Seeing how China is experienced by the people living there was a meaningful and memorable insight. |
