Dream Trip 2008: SeptemberSnowy Egret Ding Darling, Sanibel Island, Florida

Great Travel Moment This photo taken near our vacation home on Sanibel Island in the Ding Darling Nature Preserve is special to me as this same egret was in the same spot every day that we walked through the preserve. I was so happy to see that this beautiful bird had found his place in life and did not need to go very far to find everything he needed. My thoughts after seeing the egret several days in a row was that everyone should be so lucky to be happy where they are planted. It is a beautiful spot where the breezes prevail and the water is crystal clear. Despite the number of cars that drive through the preserve during the course of the day, this little water hole does not appear to be a great attraction for visitors to disembark and take a look. So the egret can fish to his heart's content, let the air blow through his feathers and remain unmolested and undisturbed all day and day to day. |
