Great Travel Moment This was taken at St. Brigid's Well in Liscannor, Ireland between Christmas and New Years of 2001. It was a crisp, sunny day - so very different from the Wisconsin winters I'm accustomed to. I was struck by all the items that people left here. Usually prayers are such an ephemeral thing but here there is visual evidence of all the fervent hopes and wishes of the well's visitors. It's really stuck with me and I've been intrigued by holy wells and shrines ever since. |

I like the spirituality reflected in this photo. It reveals a lot about the nature of the country. I like to learn about the culture as well as take in the scenery of a country.
