Great Travel Moment

Patterns in the sand from a receding wave resemble outstretched tree roots, naked branches, dried riverbeds, or the veins on a leaf. I found this delicate pattern on the shorelines of Moreton Island in Australia. I have never seen sands quite so painted with intricacy and emotion, as though stretching out to rejoin the ocean. The pattern was momentary, washed away by the next high tide. This image reminds me of a tranquil evening where sand revealed depths to me I have never before noticed
