Great Travel Moment At Basecamp Masai-Mara in Kenya, this sign perched above the creek just behind our campsite on the Savannah. It was just fifteen feet from the den of a large crocodile the locals dubbed Felix/ Felicia... (because who was gonna check to see if it was a boy our girl.) The warriors were very relaxed about the proximity of the crocodile and well, the lions who later came to visit. This is nature, and well, crocodiles are natural too. I love this sign because it reflects that calmness and strength-- that of the indigenous people of Kenya. It says... "Be Aware" Not Beware. There is no need for alarm. There is a fifteen foot crocodile down there... we just thought you should know! |
