Great Travel Moment

My husband and I traveled to Egypt for a two week visit. I love all things Ancient Egyptian and have wanted to visit Egypt since childhood. My trip was made more spectacular because I experienced it with my husband, my best friend. We did not use an escorted tour, but traveled rather independently. We met contacts at each location, who handled our paperwork and arranged our individual visits to historical sites. In Aswan, we boarded our ship for a four night cruise down the Nile. We visited three different temples and traveled through the famous Esna locks. Kom Ombo Temple was our first stop. When we were approaching, we saw horrible black smoke from smoke stacks hovering over the temple and were worried that we wouldn't have much to see. We were surprised when we looked up at a ceiling and saw color that was placed there more than 2000 years ago. Incredible.
