Great Travel Moment I took this picture while on a student trip to Israel. At this point we had been in the country for about four days, but it was our first day in Jerusalem. We were on a tour of the old city, and in the building where the Last Supper is though to have taken place, but I wondered off from the group into the courtyard. Alone in the courtyard with the crumbling arches, stone pottery, and Mediterranean vegetation, I could imagine it looking the same two thousand years ago. I got a chill thinking about all the history that took place in that very spot. At that moment, a bearded man dressed in traditional orthodox black breezed past giving livelihood to my ancient-Jerusalem vision. I snapped a picture. Seconds later the tour caught up with me and the moment was lost. |
