Great Travel Moment

Koh Paynee is the Venice of Asia. It is an island built entirely on stilts, supported against a giant stone cliff in Phang-nga Bay. This picture reminds me of the day I spent there, soaking up the oddities of an island with no privacy... homes built one on top of another, babies suspended in swings on every porch, monkeys roaming the bamboo sidewalks, and longtail boats tethered to the edges of the community. I have been to Venice as well, and I have to say, I prefer Koh Paynee for its peace, color, and people.
