Great Travel Moment I was in Egypt with some members of my church for a missions trip. We got the opportunity to work with those in the senior citizen centers, orphanages, and homes for disabled persons. Unlike the US, these people are considered "fringe" members of society and there are no social programs like those we have in the U.S. As we worked with these children at the orphanage to bring a little bit of joy into their lives, we were able to experience a different level of joy and love for humankind. These children were so grateful to play the simplest games and enjoyed the simplest gifts from us! It was a reality check for all of us as we went back home to a world of iPods, HDTV, $100 jeans, etc.... |
