Great Travel Moment After a ferry ride across the surreal turquoise colored lake formed by the Perito Moreno glacier in Argentina, we were making our way across the rocky shore to begin an ice hike on the glacier when we heard what sounded like a loud clap of thunder. When we turned to look, we saw a white ripple and waves coming toward us on the shore. I pulled out my camera to catch the stunning scene when another chunk of ice made its cracking sound and split away from the mountainous glacier. I caught it just as it made contact with the water. The day had been unreal, the Patagonia wind blowing at breakneck speed filling our lungs with air so fresh it hurt to inhale, the overpowering force of nature at the height of its glory all around us--just us tiny specks at the "ends of the earth". This photo still captivates me. |
