Great Travel Moment I was studying in central Italy and thus managed several daytrips to nearby villages that most foreigners never have a chance to see. One day I went to a town called Civita, which has only fifteen residents. It?s amazing because an earthquake had demolished the area surrounding the city so that it looks like a small plateau with cliffs going straight down into valleys. The view from the top was breathtaking?no rolling Tuscan hills, but the sharp, raw mountains of an earthquake-ravaged land. It was so lovely to stand on this small survivor of a town, and see these small mountains go on as far as I could see. |
