Great Travel Moment Luck was on my side when I obtained a job on a revenue cruise ship. I had never been out of the United States before and the anticipation of exploring the island of Corfu in Greece occupied my thoughts. While in port, I had but a few hours to walk around this unique architectural city. As I passed by this opening in an ancient wall, I noticed a fortress on a distant hill. What a discovery! My heart pounded as I hastened to its entrance. There I learned it was an old Venetian fortress named Castello della Campana. I walked through its ancient arched corridors and enjoyed the spectacular views of the city it had once protected. This brief tour of Corfu has ignited my desire to learn more of its history. I must return and share the experience with my lovely wife! |
