Great Travel Moment

Ohrid was a place that I traveled to with little expectation. Admittedly jaded by traveling extensively throughout Europe, I was shocked to find myself bowled over by the allure of both the lake and the ancient churches that line its shores. I snapped this unplanned shot of the 13th?century Church of Sveti Jovan at Kaneo around sunset after devouring an early dinner consisting of the lake?s famous trout, the first time I had ever tried the fish. I had not seen many pictures of Ohrid prior to visiting the town and was not expecting to stumble upon anything of significant beauty during my after dinner stroll. This photo is special to me because it represents the reasons I love traveling so much, the opportunity to explore the unknown and be amazed by the unexpected. I do not think I have taken a better photo since.
