Great Travel Moment

Walking along the Ganges at sunrise is an out of this world experience. The peace and quiet in a normally noisy and chaotic Varanasi is unforgetable. As the sun rises the ghats shine and change color, it feels sureal. The sheer beauty of the mighty Ganges and the devotion of people who dip into this holy water to purefy themselves each morning is remarkable. They love this river, it is their life. This man sat there crosslegged for a while, so still and quiet, just contemplating life. He made me feel like slowing down and taking it all in. I saw him just as I was about to leave the ghats to take on another day in India and I thought he perfectly summed up my feeling of seeing the Ganges at sunrise. The stillness.
