Great Travel Moment Walking around downtown Tunis, I notice occasional bursts of color from different corners of the city. The famous doors boast bright blues and yellows, the red Tunisian flag hangs proudly all around, and flower-beds are like small oases against the desert sand color of most buildings. Immediately entering this souk, I am overwhelmed by the noises, the bustle, and most prominently, all the colors. The clothes, the souvenirs, the awnings; all the colors are as bright and varied as if someone colored them in with crayons. This photograph captures one of my favorite corners of the souk. It is hidden upstairs behind a stack of handmade, wooden jewelry boxes. The reflection in the mirror is of the ceiling, which is pastel pink and baby blue. The windows are lime green, and the walls are covered with different colored clothes and shoes, rather than paint and wallpaper. It's just beautiful. |
