Great Travel Moment I love this shot because for me it bridges the gap between today's modern world and the ancient world. We were visiting the ruins of Pompeii, Italy, and our guide had just finished telling us how they had ingeniously designed the streets to become tiny rivers when it rained heavily. The stones on the side of the road still allowed people to walk around even when it was raining, and also prevented their houses from flooding. Sure enough, as he was speaking, the skies opened up...flood! We are able to use our new knowledge to stay dry, on top of the rocks! |
