Great Travel Moment

From Jaisalmer, India I headed out into the Thar desert on the back of a camel. Simon and Moosa were my guides on this three-day trip through villages and the barren landscapes of the Thar. I carried very little- a change of underwear, cameras, a flashlight and a pack of playing cards. Simon picked up food along the way- vegetables from the fields or a chicken from a village that we passed through. At the end of the day Simon would attend to the camels as Moosa and I would set up camp. Moosa would prep our meal for the night as I would wander off into the dunes and watch the sunsets. After a meal the playing cards would be broken out; I would get trounced at any game that I taught Simon. With smiles, we would lay out under the stars and fall asleep.
