Great Travel Moment

In the city of Athens, Greece stunning topographies rise from the sea of whitewashed buildings, much as the Greek Islands rest upon the azure waters of the Mediterranean. This particular photo was taken on Thanksgiving Day, 2008. The sunlight brilliantly accentuated the beautiful Athens cityscape, and from my elevated position I was able to behold breathtaking views of the green, forest-covered hills that spring from the urban chaos, as well as sun-blasted vistas of the Acropolis and the Parthenon. When in Athens, one can feel the rich ancestral tradition of ancient Greece, and the juxtaposition of Hellenic marble monuments and relics alongside modern urban development is testament to man's enduring spirit of creativity and search for knowledge.
