Great Travel Moment My daughter and I travelled to Siem Riep in March 2009. She had an interest in the stone temples after a school project. After a long day of walking in and around the monuments she was impressed but honestly a bit bored of the old stone structures. On the second day we travelled to the small ladies temple of Bantay Shray. There my daughter saw some local girls her own age attempting to make their daily quota of photo sales. My daughter snapped a photo of the girls in action; the girls saw this and ran to us to see! Soon the girls were talking in English asking questions! Vibrant conversation followed with my daughter surrounded! Giggles and broken English aside, these same aged girls (a brother too) broke the cultural barrier and allowed my daughter to see the living life of the locals juxtaposed to the ancient stone monuments. |
