Great Travel Moment

As my mother and I walked outside the Punakha dzong along the pathway to the Paro Festival in Bhutan we encountered this monk who had been in deep meditative prayer. My mother and I both love to experience the culture of places we visit and even though the Paro festival is a weeklong fancy affair, full of colorful costumes and energetic dance, the monk is the enduring figure throughout Bhutan. This photo is special to me because it reminds me of the ancient spiritual legacy that has influenced their country and the character of their people.
