Great Travel Moment Walking the woods of Appalachia in the fall plays wonders with the imagination. The mountains and forest keep the eye pulled into the immediate surroundings. The earthy smells, the crunch of the leaves, the swish the wind in the trees, the chill on your nose and fingertips keep the soul in touch with nature. Your mind is free to wander. On a fall day in the Catoctin Mountains of Maryland, anything was possible. Perhaps even this little moss worm could come alive, wiggle his way forward and take a bite of the tantalizing red morsel just inches in front of him. Like the moss worm, I felt the magic that day, too, and was able to wiggle my way forward on a project that had posed a MAJOR problem the week before. A walk in the woods charges my imagination and restores my spirit. |
