Great Travel Moment

This photo depicts my sensation of traveling into the unknown of my 18-year old son's future - a new dawn. This trip was my son's high school graduation gift. In the past as a family, we had only hiked the Rim Trail, never down into the canyon. In the pre-dawn light we began hiking through a billion years of geology on Bright Angel Trail to an 8-day paddle rafting trip down the Colorado River. Later, as we negotiated the many rapids I saw my son more as a man with each day - and I was proud. This photo reminds me that our children will make it in the world - as long as they follow their own path with spirit and resolve. Being in the majesty of the Grand Canyon has that effect - it reminds you of your place in the world.
