Great Travel Moment

This is my Grandma Sophie on her 100th birthday. I left California in 1993, and travel back about once a year to visit family. Of course, this year, 2009, was a no miss occasion. Very few of us ever attend a birthday party for someone turning 100 years old, much less attending your own relative's 100th birthday. While this is not an exceptional photo, or a photo of a sexy travel destination, it does capture the reason I travel: to connect with people. I will always have the memories of the stories my grandma passed on, the shared moments of growing up, and her presence in my life. She was always a joyful person, who never let you see her down. She is living life well, and this picture reminds me that I should live life well also - as I still have a lot of living to accomplish if I inherited her longevity!
