Great Travel Moment Interlocked padlocks at the Badaling section of the Great Wall of China attached by a young married couple. Couples in China believe that the locks will bring their marriage the strength and stability of the Great Wall. These locks are attached to a gate at one of the higher sections of the Wall and overlook the rest of the structure as it snakes across hills into the far horizon. Amongst endless visitors and pilgrims, these locks sit quietly reminding passersby of what is possible with dedication and commitment. Strong marriages -- much like great walls -- are built one brick at a time. Further, I continue to find tremendous inspiration that young Chinese couples interact with the Wall and see it not only as a passive barrier but also as an active part of their lives. |
