Great Travel Moment We were vacationing in London in early April. The English weather can be very uncertain at the end of winter, and many of the days were overcast and chilly. On the day before we left for the United States we woke up to a magnificent spring morning. We took the train to Cambridge, and enjoyed a tour of this world-famous campus. On a nice day visitors and locals enjoy a ride on a punt, a flat bottom boat, on the Cam River that runs through the city. Students earn some pocket money by providing the muscle to push the boats using poles (the river is quite shallow). This photo brings back many memories of that most enjoyable visit to the university. In the background are several students studying on the lawn in front of St. John?s College, established 1511. The photo always reminds me of the great history and accomplishment of England and the English people. |
