Great Travel Moment The Kapellbrucke (Chapel Bridge) instantly reminds me of Lucerne Switzerland. I have been there several times but see the bridge with fresh eyes each time. Lucerne can truly send your thoughts back in time. The Bridge itself, originally built in 1333 no doubt was created as a means to cross the river, a 200 meter span. Who knew that its elegant curves would delight visitors for centuries. Inside the bridge along the rafters are elegant paintings done in the early 1500" depicting the history of the town. Spiders are known to create their webs in the rafters and sometimes drop down on unsuspecting tourists. Not a memory that some may want! Sadly the original bridge was almost completely burnt by a fire in 1993 but has been beautifully resorted. I feel very privileged to have seen and walked on the original. |
