Great Travel Moment A spontaneous trip turned out to be one of the best winter holidays of my life. I had been to Canada many times, from Quebec City in December to Lake Muskoka in July, but this was my first trip to Banff National Park. A weeklong romantic escape from Los Angeles. The Rocky Mountain surroundings and the weather were picture-perfect, although for skiers at Mt. Norquay, the conditions and snowfall were less than ideal for late January. After an afternoon of exploring the township of Banff, we made our way up to the ski resort. The sun was just starting to set on this beautiful weekday afternoon. Surrounded by nature and rugged terrain, I looked up at the open sky, took in a breath of fresh air and a sense of calmness overcame me. I was mesmerized by this moment and each time I look at this shot, even now in 90 degree F weather, it takes me back to that peaceful, winter day and all I can do is smile. |
