Great Travel Moment During a trip to Peru last summer, we had planned an obvious stop at Machu Picchu. We arrived in Aguas Calientes (town at the base of Machu Picchu) the day prior. After resting a little, we ventured out to explore. We had heard mention of a waterfall on the edge of town so we went looking. What we thought would be a quick trip to see a waterfall turned into a multi-hour hike that found us walking along railroad tracks, backtracking a few times, paying to "get in", wearing many layers to avoid mosquitoes, and getting soaked shoes from stepping in a little stream right before the falls. While they weren't large, magnificent falls, we were thrilled to see them. So of the most fun and entertaining moments of the whole trip took place on our quest for the falls and this picture reminds me of all of them. |
