Great Travel Moment

The back side of the island Molokini, just off Maui, is something I had only seen from inside a boat. The waters were always too rough to get out and snorkel this famous site, so I could only imagine what a one hundred foot wall of coral reef dropping straight down into the deep ocean might look like. On this trip, however, the ocean was calm and I couldn't jump out of the raft quick enough once the captain said the water was open! There were hundreds of fish along the coral wall which dropped straight down into the deep blue ocean. I saw this fish out of the corner of my eye and was instantly attracted to his beautiful coloring and gentle movements. I followed him for a while trying to get a picture with no luck, and then he suddenly turned around and swam right at my camera! This experience left me and my boyfriend so intrigued by the underwater world that we signed up for our scuba certification that week and are looking forward to one day returning to this site with scuba gear!
