Great Travel Moment In the summer of 2008 we were able to take our sons on an amazing 20 day cruise in the Western and Eastern Mediterranean. Our ports of call were Rome, Florence, Monaco, Barcelona, Malta, Tunisia, Messina, Naples, Dubrovnik, Corfu, Katakolon, Kusadasi and Santorini. We loved that we were able to expose our children to so many different cultures. We also loved that we were able to make history come alive for them. They had studied Pompeii, Carthage, ancient Rome and famous artists and now they got to see the places and paintings for themselves. My particular favorite was Dubrovnik. It is a beautiful city with a sad recent history. We went to a very moving exhibit of war photos from the Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian War. We walked along the wall that surrounds the old city, Stari Grad. The Stari Grad is one of the most visually striking cities I have ever seen. The red tile roofs against the beautiful Adriatic Sea-amazing! |
