Great Travel Moment

This photo evokes the history and feel of the Outer Banks of North Carolina for me ... how our earth's past has joined our family in the moment. The colors and feel of the island, the local foods gathered to cook, prepare and share, each bonded us in the adventure of discovery. All the while, we exclaim over our finds and rekindle close relationships. Ancient rocks ground to sand by erosion during the journey to the Atlantic Ocean shores, remnants of creatures that occupy our oceans, all gathered in a cotton hat to show to others. My photo recalls those days of sun and gritty sand, rain squalls, deepening bonds, knowing smiles in future years, shared sunburns, bugbites and laughs, the follies of family and newly made friends. Then there's the sweet anticipation of the next gathering, at yet another location to explore! All of this, condensed into my sunbonnet.
