Great Travel Moment While exploring Alaska arrangements were made to have Smokey Bay Air Service fly us to "Alaska Homestead Lodge", Gateway to Katmai, becoming known as the Bear Visiting Capital of Alaska. As the plane landed we were met by 2 guides in an ATM pulling a trailer, the guides pointed out to us it was going to be a good day to see brown bears, they pointed out fresh tracks and fresh poop. We saw many bears through out the day grazing and playing. In the afternoon we observed a mother bear and her cub, the cub was whinning. The guides told us that bears usually do not feed their young in the open, They usually are alone and in a seculed area. After much whinning we observed the mother lay down where she was and let her baby eat. What an awesome tender sight. |
