Great Travel Moment Three friends and I had been on the road for three weeks, packed into local overnight buses like stinky sardines, all the way up the coast of Mozambique. We hardly ran into any other foreigners. When we finally came to the fabled Island of Mozambique, a former Portuguese trading-post on the route to India, we were ready for a respite. For four days we strolled this tiny time capsule -- only 1 sq km but oozing with life and color. This little girl was on her way to washing up some dishes in the afternoon. She smiled, and we knew that all those uncomfortable bus rides were nothing compared to what a lucky thing it is to see a part of the world that few get a chance to see. |
