Great Travel Moment The magnitude of the landslide in 1984, up rooting of the large trees, leaving them in a topsy turney position, exposing the shallow root system and burying the former top port. Steve & Cindy Bowhay just cut off the trees approximately 40 to 50 feet from the roots, buried the trunk and used the root systems as a ready made elevated garden. And humas/dirt to the massive root system, plant flowers and you have an elevated garden. The gardens have grown to include 50 acres of Southeast Alaska lush rainforest offering landscaping, floral design and scenic vistas. This garden exhibits such an explosion of color that it is by far the most beautiful setting I have ever seen. |
