Great Travel Moment I was walking downhill from a visit to see the 3500-year-old old city walls in Nakhchivan when I passed a mosque. The door was open, so I peeked inside. This woman enthusiastically welcomed me in and gave me a complete tour, providing much detail about the people, practices and artifacts she was showing me. It was an absolutely outstanding and totally unexpected tour. She explained everything. She was positive and welcoming beyond anything a drop-in guest from another country could hope for. At the end of the tour, she invited me to have lunch from an array of delicious, authentic homemade foods there. It was the best tour ever! The only thing is, she spoke a language I didn't understand. I think the boy is her grandson. I think this photo was taken in the small back room where special images are kept. I think I was at a funeral dinner. |
