Great Travel Moment It was my first trip to Paris, and being an architecture student, I was overly excited to see the Eiffel Tower. Finally, I would be able to experience what everyone was always talking about. So my two friends and I waited in line for an hour, crammed ourselves onto the packed elevator and then tried to walk around on the upper platforms among the throngs of people. The view was fine and all, but something about the multitudes of people stripped the surreality from the experience. Tired of lines, the three of us opted to find an alternative means of egress, which led us to a tower stairway. Alone for the first time in hours, we slowly began walking down. The sun had set, the tower was glowing and for the first time that evening I found myself mesmerized by the tower and the intricate details that make it great. |
