Great Travel Moment

The girls in this picture are Tigist C (the teen, an American Adoptee from Ethiopia, and my best friend's daughter) and my newly-adopted daughter Melat, just three years old. We took the picture at this fruit stand for a few reasons. My new daughter only wanted to eat oranges. We also loved the colors of this beautiful market. This was also the only time I've ever paid to take a photograph. The shopkeeper charged me 30 Birr (about $3USD, or roughly enough for a nice dinner out) to take the photograph. I thought it was outrageous, but couldn't resist the opportunity anyhow. I suspect he and his wife had a good laugh at my expense over dinner.
