Great Travel Moment

I took this photo when I was traveling by boat to Timbuktu up the Niger River. It took us three days to get to Timbuktu and the best part of the trip was the journey to get there. Our trip up the Niger was amazing. Time seemed to stop as we took in our surroundings and experienced this amazing river and the culture that surrounds it. I loved being in an anonymous boat traveling the same way people have traveled to Timbuktu for hundreds of years. What I love most about this photo is that it is a reflection of daily life along the Niger, which is exactly how I experienced this journey. This photo shows African ingenuity at its best. What an amazing sail boat made of rice bags.
