Great Travel Moment People. Faces. They are bounty of my travel photography treasure trove. As I wandered the stepped-streets of Cusco, Peru in 1998 in search of handmade baby alpaca sweaters, I encountered this woman with her look-alike alpaca in tow. The contrasts were amazing: white-washed and stone walls framing a bright blue door, the vivid hues of her clothing contrasted with the white alpaca with a hint of pink ribbon on its ear. But more noticeable was the similarity in their faces and their expressions. This photo remains uploaded in my treasure chest of memories of a trip filled with many people and many faces in many places: the Amazon, Lima, Pisac, Oyantaytambo, Machu Picchu, Huayna Picchu and Cusco. She stands out with her chiseled features, her stoic look, her determined stare, and most of all the mirror image of the look of her alpaca. |
