Great Travel Moment

Experiencing this amazing engineering feat was exciting and awe-inspiring. As we passed through the locks of the Three Gorges Dam, our ship was lifted almost 600 feet during a one mile trip. A truly unbelievable experience which dwarfs the Panama Canal. As our ship passed from one lock to the next, we could not but marvel at the vastness of the entire project including the dam which was to provide a significant portion of China's electrical energy.
