Great Travel Moment I've always had a special place in my heart for Manatees. It saddens me that so many have died needlessly. They are such gentle, caring, unique animals! It's encouraging that efforts are being made to increase their population. On vacation in Fort Meyers this Spring, I took a boat ride to search for Mantees. There were several near the docks, some with babies! The moment I first saw them was unbelievably emotional for me. I could do nothing but cry....happy tears rolled down my cheeks! I felt I was one of luckiest people in the world at that moment. Seeing the manatees in their natural habitat, content and carefree, thrilled and overwhelmed me. I felt priviledged to be there, witnessing this. I'm sure that most people don't break into tears like I did...but it was one of the most special moments of my life! |
