Great Travel Moment

We were touring the Imperial Palace in Beijing--usually now called the Palace Museum, but by at least one in my group, also "the Unforbidden City"--when we entered into an area and a moment apart from the broad vistas and the scattered crowds. There the sun cast these shadows of ceramic spirit animals from the awning onto a pale red wall: an unexpectedly light and intimate touch, within the grand setting. (Note the modern wires!)
