Great Travel Moment Geometry in Motion I am constantly reminded of the circles and lines of India, contradictions on display, as seen in this shot taken from the Nachana Haveli rooftop restaurant in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Two women swirl down the road, skirts and veils whirling, hurled by some unknown intent. Seemingly unconnected, a duo of wires hangs overhead, strung across the grey-speckled street. They cut into my view, but not the propulsion of the scarves. In spite of the march and mission, the wires maintain their pose, steady and patient, though they and the women both hide their purpose. Such is India, and such is universality: a composite of circles and lines, offering layers to be peeled back at each review, arousing movement, thereby making artistry out of math. |
