Great Travel Moment I had been to Paris a few time before and seen most the sites and attractions. So when my friends wanted to go there, I told them I would as long as I could find some new places to go with new things to see. This led me to the Catacombs of Paris. I have seen and experienced a lot in my travels, but while touring the Catacombs I was suddenly overcome with the most peculiar combination of emotions. It was a mixture of excitement and sorrow. Disgust and curiosity. The structured arrangement of the human remains seemed emotionally insensitive and yet I kept walking and looking, studying the sculls of people dead hundreds of years. I wondered how an open tomb filled with the remains of 6 million people has been turned into a tourist attraction and how odd it is that I am here as one of them. |
