Great Travel Moment We had just been to the Monastery on Mt. Jiu Hua, China. It was foggy and then rainy that day. We were coming down the mountain's steep hairpin winding road when I spotted the fog hanging in the mountain valley and begged the driver to stop so that I could take a photograph. The scene was too big to get in one photo and so I took two and stitched them together. The monastery visit was one of the ports of call on our Yangtze River cruise. The region attracted many Buddhist religion followers and the site has many temples. The number of Buddha statues in each sanctuary amazed me. Interesting also was the different facial expressions, pose and dress of each Buddha. Each building has a raised threshold entry and our guide informed us that we must step over it. It was improper to step on it. |
