Great Travel Moment

The image was shot on the Irrawaddy River in Myanmar/Burma. I took a day-long boat ride down the river from Mandalay to Bagan. As we arrived, the sun began to set on the river and the temples of Bagan. Given the recent catastrophe, I continually remember this image and experience when I see the current film footage on TV. The chaos, destruction and death in this most hospitable and tranquil of cultures contrasts so starkly against the Myanmar/Burma of my memories.
