Great Travel Moment

Traveling in India, I was struck by how women were relegated to secondary roles in the public setting. This image captures not only the typical crush of people that defined my experience of traveling throughout India, but also, for me, depicts the metaphor of the Indian woman - at the center of Indian domestic life, yet hidden behind the gauze of tradition and order. Sure, I can judge from afar, but, I must note too, that she is smiling, once again confirming that travel just raises more questions about the world . . .
